Xiao Jianhui, a master of ceramic arts, skillfully combines various techniques to highlight the central blue-and-white motifs, thereby enriching the thematic expression of his works. The addition of gilding craftsmanship exudes a sense of opulence as the gold glimmers and flows.
"Grand Auspicious Vessel" takes the traditional calabash as its prototype, playing on the homophone of "福禄" (fú lù, meaning "good fortune and prosperity"), symbolizing abundant blessings and enduring wealth. The entire piece is adorned with gilding, radiating magnificence as the gold shimmers. The body of the vessel depicts magnolias in full bloom and a resplendent pheasant perched on a branch—the magnolias embody purity and elegance, while the pheasant's vibrant plumage creates a striking contrast. Together, they convey the classical motif of "jade hall wealth and honor," while the vivid color palette produces a splendid and luxurious visual effect.
