[Master Profile] China Industrial Art Master—Nie Lei
Nie Lei is a Senior Craft Artist and a China Industrial Art Master.
Born in Liling, Hunan Province in 1965, he graduated from the Ceramic Sculpture Department of Hunan Light Industry Technical School in 1983. He furthered his studies at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, and Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, where he received hands-on guidance from renowned domestic sculptors and professors.
His work "Chan Xin (Heart of Zen)"won the Gold Award from the China Ceramic Industry Association and was collected by the China National Arts and Crafts Museum. "Ruyi Guanyin (Auspicious Guanyin)"received the Gold Award for Creative Design at the 2012 China Craft Art Expo. "Manjushri Bodhisattva"was awarded the Gold Prize at the 2013 China Hundred Flowers Awards for Craft Art. In 2015, his piece "Dharma"won the Gold Award at the China Ceramic Art Exhibition and the 10th National Ceramic Art Design Innovation Competition. In 2018, "Charm of the Republic Era"was honored with the Gold Award at the China Ceramic Art Exhibition and was also collected by the China National Arts and Crafts Museum.
Additionally, many of his other works have received national-level awards and have been collected by various art institutions and private collectors.
